A very large part of being a parent in a PTA, PTO or Booster Club is helping with fundraisers. Whether you are the one planning it or the one helping, it can be a little frustrating.
How can your PTA, PTO or Booster Club raise the money it needs AND somehow have fun doing it? Well, we’ve put together our top five choices for an effective and fun fundraiser for your parent group… oh, and by the way, AIM covers all of these events and more!
1. Student Art Show
Putting together a student art show is creative, fun and easier than one might think. If art projects were already done throughout the year, you can use those to showcase at your PTA, PTO or Booster Club art show. You can also have your students (and parent volunteers) prepare more art pieces a few months before to display at the event.
If you’d like to get the guests more involved, have blank canvases and art supplies out for them to create their own art!
Charge an entry fee or auction off the art that is displayed to help raise the funds you need!
2. Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger hunts are fun. Regardless of your age, the idea of working as a team to find random things as quickly as you can in hopes of being the winning team in the end is exciting! When both parents and students can have a good time, it’s a win-win. So… scavenger hunt makes our top five.
All PTA, PTO or Booster members need to do is choose random objects, hide them, and then create clues to help both students and parents find these hidden items. Then have prizes ready for the team that wins! Easy breezy. Here’s a quick guide to help you plan your next scavenger hunt.
And like the student art show, charge a fee for those Scavengers!
3. Craft Fair
For the artsy bunch, having a craft fair is the way to go. Parents and students get to show off their talents and others get to purchase something beautiful and unique.
A few months before the event, let parents and students know to start creating a few unique products to sell or auction off for your future event. And be sure to let those outside your PTA, PTO or Booster Club to mark their calendars for your future Craft Fair!
While parents and students need more of a heads up to prepare for a Craft Fair fundraising event compared to other events, it can be a rewarding and lucrative event in the end.
4. Bake Sale
Oh, the bake sale… something every PTA, PTO and Booster Parent knows all about. Why? Because when it comes to fundraising, bake sales are simple and they get the job done!
Have parents and students bake one of their favorite baked-goods. It can be as simple as your favorite chocolate chip cookies or as intricate as your great grandmother’s favorite dish.
The whole point is you don’t have to put a whole lot of time and effort in it, just a bit of heart and some tasty ingredients.
Put a set price on your baked goods or have a donation box for your hungry customers, and you’re all set.
5. Talent Show
All talent welcome! Singers, dancers, comedians, magicians… you name it.
PTA, PTO and Booster Club parents and students can showcase their talents to their community and raise money at the same time.
Have a set ticket price that your guests can buy beforehand or at the door. For those who don’t want to participate in the talent show, they can contribute in other ways like selling food and beverages to the audience.
Last but not least, sit back and enjoy the show!
Now that you have a few ideas for your next fundraising event, be sure to keep your event and your PTA, PTO or Booster Club covered from possible theft or from being sued. At AIM, our goal is to make sure your parent group is protected. Learn more at aim-companies.com.
