Is your PTO, PTA or Booster Club event fully covered?

boldentity 6 February, 2019

You just got home from a long day at work and are making dinner for your kids when you remember something… the fundraiser for your kids school is in just a few days and you still need to purchase insurance for it.

Aside from the many other things on your mind, here’s what you may be asking yourself: How do I know what all should be protected for this fundraiser?

Many schools do not cover parent-teacher groups, but there are still some schools that do. Remember, every school policy is different. If your school includes parent teacher groups in their insurance policy, follow these steps to make sure your event is fully covered…

1. Make a list of activities

Give your school a list of your activities and be very specific. The more specific, the better. Instead of asking if your carnival is covered, go into great detail and list things like dunking tank, face painting, pony rides, etc., to assure that all of your activities are protected for your event.

2. Know when and where

Make sure you know WHEN and WHERE these activities are covered. Some policies only cover the parent teacher group for events during school hours and on school campus. So whether it is during school hours or after, always make sure your event is covered regardless.

3. Letter from the school

Get a written letter from the school stating that all of your event activities are covered. Having things in writing is a great way to make sure nothing falls through the cracks.

4. Give us a call

If you are not fully covered by your school, give us a call. When it comes to purchasing event insurance through us at AIM, we make it easy. General Liability and Property coverage are offered for special events up to four consecutive days. To be eligible for General Liability special event coverage, the event must be hosted and sponsored by your organization.

We believe in the work you are doing for your kids and are available for you 24/7 to help meet your insurance needs. Give us a call at 1-800-876-4044 us to find out if your event is eligible for Special Event coverage!
