It’s Teacher Appreciation Week and everyone here at AIM Insurance would like to take this opportunity to thank teachers across the nation. They are truly underappreciated for all the work they do. It’s not easy, but somehow they pull it off.
Somewhere else teachers may be underappreciated is in your Parent Teacher Organization. Teachers put the T in PTO…literally! Teachers can impact your parent group in ways you might not have realized yet.
Teachers give your PTO or Booster Club an inside perspective
Your PTO or Booster Club has put on events, worked hours on fundraising and now you’re ready to use the funds to do some good for your school! That’s fantastic, but before you order anything, be sure to ask your teachers what’s needed. Teachers know what teachers need. It’s easy to assume the answer, and if you ask your educators you may find out that they have a different opinion.
Every teacher at one point has probably thought, “It would really help if we had…” By asking teachers what they really need, the rewards will have a higher impact and will likely have long-term effects.
Teachers can help your Parent Teacher Group understand students
Of course, parents know their kids better than anyone, but a teacher is present when kids are with friends, classmates, and in a learning environment. Involving educators could help your PTO or Booster Club relate to students even better.
Teachers constantly interact with a multitude of students and quickly discover their likes, dislikes, and which tools they need to improve their learning.
Teachers can connect your Parent Teacher Group with more Parents
Students aren’t the only people teachers interact with regularly. Teachers often speak directly with parents that you may not know or have yet to meet. It’s not uncommon for teachers to build good relationships with many parents. Your parent-teacher group could benefit a lot by having someone of credibility as a member.
If your teachers enjoy being part of the PTO or Booster Club and feel enthusiastic about events, they will pass their excitement on to other parents; this could build awareness for your group or even help find new volunteers!
We Appreciate You!
Thank you to all the teachers out there. You go above and beyond to educate numerous students each year. From ABCs to calculus and physics, you’ve helped us grow as students and people.
